Becky Myers is a retired DCSD teacher with over 25 years of educational experience. She was born and raised in Odessa, Texas. She graduated from Sam Houston State University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1993 Becky, her husband, and her family moved to Castle Rock where her two children attended elementary, middle, and high school.

Becky cares about students, parents, her community and focuses on building relationships with people across the spectrum. She loves people and loves learning. Her “teacher’s heart” motivated her to run for the school board to continue to serve the students and community in the school district she loves.

Becky is running for the Douglas County School District Board of Education from District D. Her natural organization and project management skills will enable her to work with others to focus on getting the job done.

Kaylee Winegar is a devoted wife and mother to a sweet, soon-to-be kindergarten student. She has lived in various cities in Colorado but has found there is no better place to raise a family than in Douglas County.

Kaylee believes that no matter how one identifies, education is critical to a successful life for every individual. She will fight to ensure prioritization of academic opportunities, educational excellence and to ensure the choices of parents are honored. She will focus on building a board culture that is responsive to its students and parents and accountable to the community for academic and educational excellence.

As a young parent Kaylee is running for School Board, District G. She will work to ensure each student has access to a great education that prepares them for future success.

Christy Williams is a wife and mother to three kids who attend Douglas County Public Schools. She grew up in Littleton. She attended Arapahoe Community College preparing for a life-long vision of starting her own business. Christy has been married for almost 15 years and lives in Castle Rock where she runs a small business working with clients who live mostly in Douglas County.

She understands the importance of a great education system for all kids and will focus on Career and Technical Education opportunities and the importance of Charter Public Schools within the district.

Christy brings a balanced vision for our school board, District E, to be representative of and responsive to all citizens. She believes in strong, accountable leadership, new and different perspectives, and innovative approaches to problem-solving.

Mike Peterson is a retired U.S. Navy Commander, a devoted husband, and proud father of three girls – two that attend Douglas County Public Schools. He moved to Colorado in 2004 while serving in the military and remained here with his family after retiring from the Navy in 2011.

In 2020, he co-founded SPARTAN Training & Performance with other like-minded veterans to assist high-reliability organizations in optimizing their safety, performance, leadership, and organizational culture.

Mike and his wife, who works in the school district as an assistant for Affective Needs students, have been married for 27 years. He is running for the School Board in District B. Mike’s servant leadership style will refocus the school district on core elements of academic achievement and growth in reading, writing, math, and science. He will help increase parent choice and empower local teachers and principals.


Kids First DCSD is a group of Douglas County parents, teachers, and community members dedicated to ensuring that the leaders of Douglas County School District prioritize kids first in all decision making.


The goal of Kids First DCSD is to make Douglas County School District an exemplary public school system and a destination district for families, students, and employees. It is time to put Douglas County kids first and get politics out of our schools.

We will keep the community aware of district business through watch groups and will use social media, board meeting public comment, letters to the editor, email campaigns, and board director elections to effect change. We value principle-based leadership, honoring parent choice, respecting educational professionals, and high-quality public schools.
